The Conservancy participates as a partner in ongoing and new efforts to maintain and improve the natural physical environment in the larger Sound community, as well as on the Island itself.
To support the lives of birds, mammals, insects, etc. the environment of Fishers Island must provide food, shelter from the elements and protection from predators. This is the definition of “Habitat”.
The essential key to Natural History demands that our island and its inhabitants continue to tell our stories in an ever changing environment.
Island visitors and residents alike are encouraged to explore the site and view native trees and shrubs from a different perspective.
The Fishers Island Conservancy spot tests the water quality at several locations – most notably Hay Harbor and West Harbor.
Each year, the Conservancy employs several Islanders who are tasked with removing the trash and other materials which either wash up on our shores or are left behind.
